From now on, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) will be able to rely on a state-of-the-art mobile command post to conduct its investigations.
The SPVM’s most recent acquisition is equipped with “important technologies” such as a drone.
The metropolitan police force frequently uses its mobile command post. According to Sébastien Chartier, commander and section chief of the SPVM’s Tactical Intervention Group (GTI), the device is deployed on average every two days.
“He will go out for all major events, he can go out for disappearances, he can go out for any event that requires a lot of speakers,” he explains.
Mr. Chartier also indicates that the new device could even be called out every day.
In the field, the mobile command post is an important tool for the police.
“(It allows us to have) a place where everyone can coordinate quickly and work well. When we talk about major events, it saves a lot of time and allows us to work in a really efficient way. It is essential to have that in the big files to be able to move forward, ”explains Sébastien Chartier.
The latter believes that the time savings offered by the command post can “save lives”.
