Accused of rape and sexual assault, the former manager of a pizzeria in Eure tried on Monday

The facts of rape, sexual assault and sexual harassment were denounced in 2018 by five complainants, former employees, but the period of health crisis delayed the trial. So that the former manager of Pizza Manu pizzeriasto Beuzeville (Eure) and to countville, will only be judged from this Monday, May 2, 2022 and until Thursday, May 5 inclusive. His trial will take place before the Evreux Court of Assizes.

Five complaints filed

At the time, aged 20 to 53, five former employees of these pizzerias had filed a complaint for acts that were allegedly committed between 2013 and 2018. Among them, one denounces a rapeand the others of sexual assault and sexual harassment.

The accused was indicted in October 2018, after investigations by the Pont-Audemer gendarmerie company following the first complaint. According to our information, the man was placed in pre-trial detention for about a year before being released.

Since 2018, the Conteville pizzeria has been sold and another brand has taken its place. The accused also sold the Beuzeville pizzeria, which however kept the name and the sign of Pizza Manu.

The penalty for the crime of rape is 15 years in prison maximum, but it can be extended up to 20 years by aggravating circumstances, for example if the author is a person having authority over the victim, such as his employer. The perpetrator of a sexual assault risks a sentence of up to 5 years in prison and a fine of €75,000.
