Cooper Bikes: “old school” electric bikes

Cooper Bikes has just unveiled four new e-bikes. German technology, British design: a winning duo?

The electric bike that doesn’t seem like it

Visually, Cooper e-bikes are nearly indistinguishable from a traditional bicycle. Barely visible, the 40 Nm Zehus Gen2 motor conceals a complete propulsion system in the rear wheel hub. It also incorporates a small 173 Wh battery. If the German brand communicates on its energy recovery system, there will be no miracle in terms of autonomy. The 60 kilometers announced on the technical sheet will probably be difficult to hold in reality…

Cooper CS-1E: the 1-speed classic

Cooper Bikes CS-1E

Considered the brand’s entry-level, the Cooper CS-1E is equipped with a Gates CDX Riemen belt transmission, Shimano BR-M315 hydraulic disc brakes, Mach1 560 HighProfile 36H rims and 35 mm Kenda Kwick Trax K1053 tires: we are on a serious bike. However, you will have to make do with a single-speed derailleur. To be reserved for slightly hilly terrain.

Available in red or black, this new e-bike costs €2,399.

Cooper CL-7E: a stylish e-bike for the ladies

Not so light as announced with its 17.5 kg, the CL-7E features a CroMo steel frame that “exudes style and driving comfort”. We don’t really know what that means, but one thing is certain: with its simple, geometric lines, this electric bike has class.

Fitted with a 7-speed MicroShift XLE derailleur for “everyday journeys made easy”, lhe CL-7E is available in blood red or champagne. It is billed at €2,499.

Cooper CG-7E: the same thing, for men

Cooper Bikes CG-7E

According to Cooper Bikes, the CG-7E is light and “accelerates to reach a comfortable urban speed in no time and glide quietly”.

Same features and price as CL-7E, but paint options are different. Blue and white or Silver grey. Say, Cooper, gender stereotypes wouldn’t be a bit oldschool ?

Cooper Classic Randonneur CR-7E: the electric bike for getting out of town

In its touring version, the Cooper CR 7e seems quite convincing. The frame remains the same, but the handlebars have been lowered and fitted with sport grips.

Equipped with a 7-speed transmission and available in green or purple, the CR-7E is sold for €2,799
