This is news that will delight lovers of Neapolitan pizza. Saturday February 12, 2022, Sign Marcello opened a third pizzeria in Toulouse rue Pargaminières, tower near Place Saint-Pierre.
The story began in Place Saint-Georges
The story of Marcello and the Pink City began in August 2019 with a first opening in Place Saint-Georges, notably offering pizza “in portfolio”. The second address was then opened at 254, avenue de Muret.
In April 2021, a Marcello street food was inaugurated by the managers at 5, rue Pargaminières with a large courtyard and traditional recipes for lasagna, pasta, gnocchi, paninis, all kinds of antipasti as well as desserts like tiramisu.
With traditional products from Naples
The new pizzeria, located just opposite the street food restaurant, testifies to the successful integration and the desire of the Italian managers to develop in Toulouse. Andres Victoria and Antonio Picone manage this new gourmet address around the Italian specialty.
“We work with quality products from Naples such as San Marzano tomato, mozzarella bufala di campana, and farina petra Molino Quaglia, a traditional flour made with 100% Italian grain,” Antonio told Toulouse news.
“Toulouse is a city with great energy”
At 30, Antonio worked in the famous Gino Sorbillo brand in Naples, before traveling to the four corners of the world with his recipes, from Tokyo to Ibiza via the United States. Coming from four generations of pizza makers, he’s been making pizza “with love” since he was 9 years old. Toulouse? He says he landed there “by chance. I’m delighted to work here, the city is young and active, with a great energy. It is a multi-ethnic city, with kind and elegant people,” he pays tribute.
Will you like Maradona pizza?
For this new pizzeria, Antonio Picone installed a traditional three-ton oven – and in his name! -. and highlighted its à la carte “icons” with two pizzas named Maradonael “Pibe de Oro”, the Argentinian legend, world champion in 1986, who died on November 25, 2020, and songwriter and guitarist Pino Daniele. A menu written largely in Italian, for a guaranteed change of scenery. The pizzas are divided into three parts: the “Classica”, the “Popolare” and the “Gourmet”. A menu that also includes calzones, a choice of salads and desserts. Vegans will find their account with the “Antica marinara” pizza.
A fourth address in Saint-Aubin by summer
Marcello’s pizza love affair with Toulouse has only just begun. In the summer of 2022, a fourth pizzeria of the brand will open in the Saint-Aubin district, not far from the church.
Opening hours: Monday to Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
